AHEC Scholars Webinar Series
QPR Training
April 26, 2024
12:00-2:00pm
This session will be held on Friday, April 26th, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. During this 2 hour training session, AHEC Scholars will have the opportunity to receive QPR training and a certificate upon completion. Mental health advocates created QPR — question, persuade and refer — which uses evidence-based training to teach the everyday person how to recognize whether someone is in crisis. Angela Sullivan, Ph.D., board president of the Alabama Suicide Prevention and Resources Coalition and assistant professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health, breaks down QPR and how individuals can use it to help others.
Angela Sullivan, MS, PhD, is the program director for the COVID Testing and Prevention in Alabama’s K-12 Schools Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Troy University and a PhD in community health promotion from UAB. Dr. Sullivan is currently the board president of the Alabama Suicide Prevention and Resources Coalition (ASPARC). She previously served as ASPARC’s primary Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) gatekeeper trainer, QPR trainee coach, secretary, and treasurer.
The session will be held on Zoom. This information will be sent via email upon registration.
