Stop the Bleed Training & Certification
Receive hands-on instruction from UAB School of Nursing faculty and earn a Stop the Bleed certificate and kit upon completion. Developed by the American College of Surgeons, this training equips you with life-saving bleeding control techniques, including: - Applying direct pressure
- Packing a wound
- Proper use of a tourniquet
Participants will also have the option to take part in a research study, which involves two brief surveys. -
Networking & Team Building
Engage in interactive team-building exercises and connect with fellow students, faculty, and professionals. -
Advocacy TalkDiscover the power of healthcare advocacy and how policy, community engagement, and strong leadership can drive meaningful change, improve access to care, and create a healthier future for all Alabamians.

Scholar Poster Presentations

AHEC Scholars will have the opportunity to present their Community Impact Projects or academic research during the ARHA Conference Poster Session (Thursday, April 3, from 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM).

If you would like to present, please indicate your interest in the registration form.
- Your coordinator will provide details, including templates and guidelines.

Alabama AHEC Network will cover printing costs for your poster and print on your behalf.
- You may present individually or as a group.
- Conference Attendance & Experiential Hours
- Scholars are welcome to attend just the pre-conference, but we highly encourage participation in the full Alabama Rural Health Conference 2025 as schedules allow.
- Registration costs will be covered for AHEC Scholars.

Regional Centers
The Alabama AHEC Network is dedicated to recruiting, training, and retaining the Alabama healthcare workforce while broadening the distribution of the health workforce, enhancing the quality of care, and improving health care delivery to rural and underserved populations in Alabama. The following centers are members of the Alabama AHEC Network and are federally funded HRSA AHEC Programs and nationally recognized Area Health Education Centers: Alabama Statewide Network Program Office, North Alabama AHEC (NAAHEC), East Central Alabama AHEC (ECAAHEC), Black Belt Alabama AHEC (BBAAHEC), Wiregrass Alabama AHEC (WAAHEC), Delta Alabama AHEC (DAAHEC).
