Strengthening Healthcare Opportunities for Providers, Students, & Communities in the Black Belt
At Black Belt Alabama AHEC, we are committed to enhancing healthcare services across Alabama’s Black Belt by partnering with local providers to improve the quality and accessibility of essential medical care. We also support aspiring healthcare professionals statewide with scholarships, internships, and educational resources for high school and college students.
In March of 2024, Black Belt Alabama AHEC joined the Alabama AHEC Network. Black Belt Alabama AHEC is hosted by the University of West Alabama. They are dedicated to enhancing Alabama’s healthcare quality through comprehensive training, education, and resources for healthcare professionals and students.

Regional Centers
The Alabama AHEC Network is dedicated to recruiting, training, and retaining the Alabama healthcare workforce while broadening the distribution of the health workforce, enhancing the quality of care, and improving health care delivery to rural an underserved populations in Alabama. The following centers are members of the Alabama AHEC Network and are federally funded HRSA AHEC Programs and nationally recognized Area Health Education Centers: Alabama Statewide Network Program Office, North Alabama AHEC (NAAHEC), East Central Alabama AHEC (ECAAHEC), Black Belt Alabama AHEC (BBAAHEC), Wiregrass Alabama AHEC (WAAHEC), Delta Alabama AHEC (DAAHEC).
